Wood carving

4

After millennia of trial and error, our ancestors learned to distinguish properties of plants, wood and trees. Wood was one of the first materials that man began to use. Most kinds of forest and fruit trees were processed. Basic tools in a traditional woodwork workroom would include axe, wedge, mallet, saw, knife, plane, chisel and auger. Wood carving skills grew in importance over the centuries and like-minded individuals formed themselves into guilds such as carpenters, wood turners, joiners, cabinet makers and artisans. Come and see our woodcarving workshop and try your skills yourself.
